The Welsh Language is one of the special qualities of the National Park. The language is an integral element in communities’ fabric and reflects their traditions and culture.
Eryri National Park Authority considers the potential effects of a development on the Welsh language. The Authority will:
- support development that maintains or enhances the integrity of the Welsh language
- refuse development that, due to its size, scale or location, would cause significant harm to the language balance of a community
- encourage signage by public bodies, commercial and business companies to be bilingual or in Welsh only
- encourage the use of Welsh place names for new developments, houses and street names
